Wooden crochet hooks in progress

image

Here is a peek into my newest obsession… er, hobby. 3 future wooden crochet hooks that I worked on for a bit tonight. Next step for them will be to hold them and imagine crocheting with them so that I can get a feel for which direction is the best for hook placement. Then I will mark it and whittle away the unnecessary wood πŸ™‚

Yarn up a boring elastic ponytail holder! :)

All you need is a hook, a hairband and a bit of leftover yarn. Prepare the yarn onto the hook as if you were about to start a chain. Sc around the elastic. It took 44 Scs to cover this particular one. Join to 1st st. Weave in ends. Voila, yarntastic!

You could even go as far as adding a little crocheted flower or other applique to one of these. πŸ™‚

Tonight’s Button-work

Hubby cut these up for me with the handsaw. πŸ˜€ He made them so much straighter than the ones I cut, lol. All sanded and ready for drilling(and then some more sanding) πŸ™‚ But alas, it is after midnight, so that is a job left for tomorrow.

2nd try at wooden buttons!

They just need a bit more oil for shine. πŸ™‚

Free Washcloth/Dishcloth Crochet Pattern

Need a gift in a pinch? Need some dishcloths that will last forever? Well, here is a pattern that works up in about 20 or 30 minutes. Just a basic granny square with the right yarn makes a perfect washcloth.
All you need is some cotton yarn and a size I hook(5.50mm). You could actually use any hook you want, but I is the one I like to use for these. πŸ™‚

Color options are endless. You can use solids, ombres, yarn scraps leftover from other projects, etc. If you wish to get the effect in the pictured cloths (pink ones) then I suggest changing yarns at the beginning or end of desired round.
